Hewooo Innworld!

I hope this message finds you well and surrounded by the sound and magic of storytelling! As the Frost Fairies make their silent departure and the rains begin, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared through The Wandering Inn by Pirateaba and announce some upcoming changes. <3

The Wandering Inn is a series that has been a shining beacon of creativity and adventure and has fundamentally reshaped the audio landscape of our genre with its unprecedented length and expansive storytelling! It has blessed its fans — myself included — with a thick, nourishing fantasy broth brimming with unforgettable characters, sumptuous narratives, and the heartwarming spirit of Erin’s inn where everyone is always welcome… well, unless you’re a jerk… ;)

When I look back on the countless hours spent narrating these stories, both on stream and off, I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude. Each moment — joy, rage, sadness, or tears — has deepened my connection to this vibrant world we’ve explored together. The friendships, challenges, and triumphs of thousands of different characters have not only captivated my heart but have also brought us together, nurturing a passionate community of fans who share an unwavering love for this extraordinary tale. Each new book has filled hearts with laughter, minds with inspiration, and me with a deep sense of community and belonging that I will always cherish.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of this journey with me; it means more than I can ever say. <3

That's why after many wonderful years, with a heart heavy with love for Pirateaba, Innworld, and all of you, I now share that I will be stepping back as the narrator of The Wandering Inn. Let me explain. :)

With the incredible Wandering Inn world have come both milestones and unique challenges; we’ve broken records for the longest fantasy series of all time, the longest audiobook narration of a fiction series, and introduced a record-breaking number of characters! From newly awakened Antinium to the timelessly cruel Belavier, Pirateaba deserves the absolute best audio possible, and I have grown immensely with each book in pursuit of that goal. My breadth and growth as a narrator can be found within the audio waves of The Wandering Inn, and I couldn’t be prouder of that fact.

However, those incredible record numbers and the absolute perfection that a work of this caliber demands do come at a cost — one that has absolutely nothing to do with money. As Innworld has continued to grow and expand at an increasing rate, I have found myself with fewer and fewer unique voices and characterizations to use for characters that truly deserve them. Fewer accents to use for whole new countries and nations being introduced. My work has always been 50% skill and 50% heart. When my skill could no longer meet the challenge, I met it with heart, but that could only last so long.

By the time we reached the end of 2024, it had become abundantly clear that something needed to change, and that something…was me. I was creatively burnt out.

Some stories are bigger than one storyteller. And just as it’s time for a new Doctor to usher in fresh adventures in the TARDIS, it’s time for me to step aside and allow a new narrator to shine!

I know that narrator changes are terrifying; that’s why Podium, Pirateaba’s team, and I have all been working long nights and weekends for the last 5 months auditioning, reviewing, gathering, collating, and preparing for one of the largest narrator hand-offs in audio history. I have been preparing materials, gathering references, and even making a few voice tutorials on some of our favorites (lookin’ at you Klb) to make sure the transition is as seamless as possible for everyone, but especially for our new narrator.

As with any change of this type in the industry, rumors and speculation will invariably occur, but I hope to put any negativity to rest with both word and action. I was open and honest about my feelings, and both Pirateaba and Podium have been nothing but kind throughout everything, not just this process, but our entire history together. I am still actively involved and will continue to be so through this transition and beyond! Though I may be stepping away, I will always remain a fan of the series, and I am committed to working closely with our new narrator to help in any way I can. <3

I am so excited for you to experience their unique interpretation of our beloved series. I have every confidence that they will honor the magic of “The Wandering Inn” and continue to captivate you with their storytelling! But, more on that very soon… ;)

I just…I love this series so much, and it’s so much a part of who I have become as a narrator. I want to take a moment to thank you all for your incredible, unwavering support. Your enthusiasm and love for these stories have fueled my passion as a narrator, and I have loved every minute of bringing Pirateaba’s words to life. The laughter, the tears, and the moments of wonder we’ve shared will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you for being an incredible part of this journey and allowing me to join in something so special.

Here’s to new adventures and the continued exploration of the enchanting world of The Wandering Inn!

With all my love,

Andrea Parsneau

FAQ

That public statement was really long. I get it. Just want some questions answered? I am happy to help! Fair warning that this document may grow or be added to over time as more questions are asked.

What is happening?

I, Andrea Parsneau, will be stepping back as the narrator of The Wandering Inn. Some stories are bigger than one storyteller and, just as it’s time for a new Doctor to usher in fresh adventures in the TARDIS, it’s time for me to step aside and allow a new narrator to shine!

But why?

The fast version: I am creatively burnt out, and my professional integrity won’t allow me to continue to work on something as intricate and beautiful as The Wandering Inn if I am no longer able to meet the challenges the text provides.

Was it money?
It was money, wasn’t it?
It’s always money!

Nope. I have always been paid very fairly by everyone involved <3 As weird as it might seem to some, this had nothing to do with money, and I made that clear to everyone when I made this choice.

Did Pirateaba fire you?

No. Full stop. This was 100% my choice and I am extremely lucky to have very supportive people around me who listened when I said I couldn’t do it anymore.

Did you fight with Pirate?
Was there blood?
A dramatic falling out?!

Lol! Absolutely not. Pirate is an amazing person and I look forward to the possibility of working with them again! Pirate understands burnout better than many and has been incredibly kind throughout this process <3

Why so sudden?! I’m not ready!

I understand this feels sudden, and I am so sorry for that. But I promise, this was far from sudden. Myself, Pirateaba, their team and Podium have all been working on this for months to make sure this change was as painless as possible.

When does this happen?

I have recorded my last Wandering Inn books <3 You will be hearing the new narrator for the first time on book 16! But remember I also narrated The Singer of Terandria (remember the singing??) and the last book in the trilogy is out in May so you haven’t heard the last of me in the InnVerse yet.

But…Why didn’t you tell us earlier…?

I think you know why. Social media is a scary place and we wanted to make sure we had everything exactly right before word got out so we could make sure everyone had the REAL story and not one that was made up because of rumor <3

Is there a new narrator? Are they good?!

Yes and YES! The new narrator is a titan on Audible with FAR more books than myself under their belt! They were selected for their skill and talent auditioning with characters from the series so we know they will be incredible!

What will happen to the Discord Livestream Recordings?

Our new narrator has a different recording process from Andrea—so the Discord Livestream Recordings aren't going to be possible moving forward, but we do expect to be able to share some booth footage as we get into production.

But will it be the same?!

Of course not! It will be different and wonderful and a whole new breath of life brought into the series that I can’t wait for you all to hear!

When will we know who the new narrator is?

We will be announcing the new narrator on April 28!

Will Books 1 through 15 be re-recorded with the new narrator?

No, Andrea's performance on books 1–15 is dipped in bronze and won't be going anywhere! We've worked hard to find a narrator who can pick up the baton from Andrea smoothly so the series will continue with our new voice actor.
